440 Hz and 432 Hz flutes

Pitch is the note the flute is tuned to, not a style of music. Orchestras, recordings, and most classical accompaniment use A = 440 Hz. A flute tuned to 440 Hz sits with those instruments. A flute tuned to 432 Hz will sound flat next to them.

What we tune

Hindustani and Carnatic flutes in the shop are marked 440 Hz, including the Hindustani middle D and the Carnatic middle E. That is the concert pitch to order unless you specifically want meditation pitch.

432 Hz
